THE HISTORY OF TUC-TIN COTTAGE

Around ten years ago, we enquired to the local council for a grant, as the cottage was in a very sorry state. Unfortunately we were told that there was no money at that time so we set about the major renovation tasks ourselves as a project.

The first job was to remove the old oak beams and flooring (which was past restoring) to complete them all with identical crafted replacements. We then stripped out all plaster-work, back to the old-style stone face. Complete new flooring and terracotta quarried tiles were carefully cut & fitted, in keeping with its age and character, as well as getting the log-fire place and chimney back into good working order.

Clun in Shropshire As time progressed we were then able to totally refurbish the whole cottage with its period theme, whilst also fitting out both the kitchen and bathroom with modern facilities. The kitchen being fully furnished with oven, hob, fridge and washing-machine; and the bathroom having a bath, shower, toilet, sink etc. The double bedroom was fitted with pine floor-boards and its room surroundings were finished to a very high standard & character with old-style plastering which part reveals its beams and woodwork. The lounge too also followed a similar suit in its décor and country-style furnishings, as well as including modern facilities.

The quaint garden has a seated patio area which is lovely for eating outdoors during the warmer seasons.

In several years we lovingly and creatively reinstated the beautiful little cosy cottage as it is today.
